There’s No Place Like Home…..

Needless to say, I’m glad this week is about over.  Lots of dog drama.  Storm drama.  And, other drama.  I’m dramatized.

Speaking of drama-traumatized – these two are glad to be home.

Poor Rylee has a bum right leg and their little journey really put her in a lot of pain.  I’ve been giving her meds since Tuesday night and she is getting around much better today.  She has been resting a lot.

During this entire ordeal, our Alaskan Malamute sensed something wasn’t quite right.  He wouldn’t go out in the backyard very far on Monday night and kept looking at us as if to say “Where are they?” .   He searched the yard and sniffed the dog house and looked between the fences.  It was really sad to see knowing we might not find them.   However, Tuesday afternoon (and I wish I had filmed this) Gus was very vocal and physically excited that Rylee and Jack returned home safe and sound.  It was very touching to watch because he ‘kissed’ them both repeatedly.  Licking their faces, their ears, and sniffing and laying as close as he could to both of them.  Mostly Rylee.  He is very protective of them both.   Gus would scratch to come in the house and then sit by the window a few minutes watching Jack and Rylee sleep on the patio.  Then he’d ask to go back out, sniff them a bit, lick them a bit and then lay down between them.  He was quite happy they are home.

Gus, checking Rylee and Jack over. Pay no attention to the ugly clover in the background.

So, don’t let anyone every tell you dogs do not have souls or feelings.  I know differently.  Anything that loves like that is certainly one of God’s children and creations.
