Recipe: Crock Pot Delight

Posted by starwoodgal on July 1, 2009

Too hot to turn on the oven? Make this in the crock pot/slow cooker.  Easy schmeezy.

Crock Pot Delight

2 – 3 lbs. boneless chuck, cut into 1 inch cubes
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. butter
1 onion, sliced
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
2 c. beer
1/4 c. flour

Coat beef cubes with the 1/2 cup flour. Brown in melted butter. Drain off excess fat. In Crockery Pot, combine browned meat with onion, salt, pepper, garlic and beer. Cover and cook on low 5 – 7 hours (or all day) until meat is tender. Turn Crockery Pot to high. Dissolve remaining1/4 cup flour in small amount of water. Stir into meat mixture, cook on high 30-40 minutes.

Serve with rice and salad for a complete meal.

Y’all Enjoy!  :)

I’ve never had good results with crock-pot recipies – mine always come out so dry. I think I will give this one a try though – it sounds quite good!

    Thanks!

  2. Oh! Never done it with beer! Going to put this on the list;)

This sounds yummy! Or should I say delightful?

I’ve got beets steaming in my crock pot right now. Never cooked them that way before. We’ll see how they turn out.

This sounded so easy and yet a comforting food at the same time. Best of all, not a “kitchen heater upper”.
I’ll bet Jimmy Buffett never imagined his Landshark beer would end up in a crock pot with beef (tee-hee). I’m thinking Mimi’s Cheese Potatoes will be quite good with this. We will be having a strawberry pie that I found on the internet yesterday and made last night about 9 o’clock. Fruit is good for you. The easiest part is you make the pie crust in the pie pan. Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend.
