Now, if you want to fill your home with the scent of the holidays, bake this bread. If this is in the oven when your guests arrive, they may never leave. Wonderful bread yumminess that is great for a snack, dessert, breakfast, or whatever. Serve warm with cinnamon ice cream or whipped cream on the side. You won’t regret it. And, of course – it is EASY SCHMEEZY to make. Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it. So go forth and bake my blogladyte friends. Your family will love it!
Homemade Gingerbread
2 eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup molasses
3/4 cup melted shortening
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ginger
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup boiling water
Add beaten eggs to the sugar, molasses and melted shortening. Sift the dry ingredients together and then add to the egg/sugar mixture. Add the hot water and mix well. Bake in a 9 X 13 pan in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Top with pudding sauce.
Pudding Sauce:
1 Tablespoon butter
1 Tablespoon flour
1 cup boiling water
3/4 cup sugar
pinch salt
1 egg
1 teaspoon lemon extract
Melt butter in saucepan. Add flour and stir until thick and smooth. Gradually add boiling water and stir until smooth. Boil a few minutes, then add sugar, salt and egg which have been beaten together. Stir rapidly to keep from lumping. Add lemon extract.
Y’all Enjoy!
