Recipe: Cinnamon Sugar Cookies
Posted by starwoodgal on November 9, 2008
I have so many fond memories of making cookies with my Nanaw. She always let me help and sneak a piece of dough from the bowl, even though she swore it was bad for me. We didn’t need an occasion to make cookies and she seemed to always have the ingredients in her kitchen. This recipe for cinnamon sugar cookies is so easy and kids love to make them. So, grab your favorite cookie cutter shapes (Thanksgiving, Christmas, whatever), invite the kids into the kitchen and create a memory and let’s make some cinnamon sugar cookies.
**Note: dough must chill overnight. Something for the kids to look forward to the next day. Cutting out shapes and baking the cookies.
Cinnamon Sugar Cookies
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1 cup sugar
2 cups cake flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 egg whites, beaten slightly
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 2 Tablespoons sugar, mixed together.
Cream butter, 1 cup sugar, and egg. Add cake flour, baking powder and salt which have been sifted together. Chill the dough overnight. Roll out thin on a floured pastry cloth. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place on cookie sheet. Brush with beaten egg whites and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mix or leave plain for frosting later. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove to racks to cool.
Y’all Enjoy!
