Recipe: Baked Apples

Well – it is Apple Picking Season here in Arkansas. While I’d love to head on over to the Arkansas Apple Festival today, I’m going to stay in (because it’s raining), and the Arkansas Razorbacks are playing on TV at 11:30 AM. (I’m not expecting any miracles because they’re playing Florida). Anywhooooooo, back to the Apples!
Nanaw, my maternal grandmother, cooked these all the time. LOVE THEM! They go well with any meal and are so juicy and sweet there’s no need for dessert. Did I mention it is also ridiculously easy to make? Well – shame on me. They are EASY SCHMEEZIE! So, grab some big ol’ juicy apples and make ya some. They are Da’Lish!
Nanaw’s Baked Apples
8 apples, peeled and cored
1/3 cup flour
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Dash of salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 cup orange juice
Mix all ingredients except the orange juice and roll apples in mixture. Put apples in baking dish and add orange juice. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
See! EASY SCHMEEZIE!
Y’all Enjoy!

An egg? This sounds so comforting. Can I come eat some? I’ll even yell “Go Pig Sooooeeeey!”
